Rockstar Games Is Taking Down Footage and Images of Scrapped GTA 5 DLC And Early Version of Leaked GTA 6 Map

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has begun taking down videos and posts about leaked GTA 5 and GTA 6 content.

Last week, a ton of files for Grand Theft Auto 5 leaked online. These were reportedly obtained during the 2022 hack, which also resulted in the first-ever footage of GTA 6 leaking online. These files have been rumored for some time, but are only just now surfacing publicly. They include cut dialogue from GTA 5, which also seems to hint at different outcomes for the story, such as a darker ending for Franklin. However, the two biggest things are details of a scrapped Liberty City expansion for GTA 5 and an extremely early version of GTA 6’s map.

Given that this material was illegally obtained in a hack and not officially released by Rockstar or datamined through the game’s files, the studio’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is working to scrub the assets from the internet. Various YouTube videos and posts with visuals of the leaked material or clips of the audio have been taken down by Take-Two. It doesn’t seem like the company is going scorched-earth like it did for the GTA 6 leaks, but it does appear that content creators who post this material are at risk of copyright strikes.

We’re just two months away from the release of GTA 6, and it’s likely that Rockstar’s security is going to be at an all-time high. The studio has been compromised by multiple leaks for the last four years, and now it’s at a point where the game is likely finished and could be at risk of being spoiled. However, the lack of physical copies will make it a lot harder for things to leak ahead of its release. Given tons of footage managed to surface in August, though, it’s not impossible for more things to make their way online.
