Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric launch on November 4

Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026. The electric SUV will be assembled at the manufacturer’s Chakan plant in Pune and, according to Mercedes-Benz, will become the fastest global model to arrive in India as a locally assembled vehicle, just six months after sales began in Europe. The GLC Electric will be offered here in the 400 4Matic guise, and bookings are set to open in October.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 400 4Matic is available internationally with a 94kWh battery pack and a claimed WLTP range of 715km. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup produces a combined 490hp and 800Nm, enabling the 2.5-tonne SUV to accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds.

It supports up to 330kW DC fast charging, which can top up the battery for a claimed range of up to 300km in 10 minutes. The international-spec GLC Electric 400 4Matic is offered with 4.5-degree rear-axle steering and air suspension.

Gets plenty of illuminated elements outside

At the front, the GLC Electric features a large, rounded-edge grille with illuminated elements, star-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) and projector LED headlights. The side profile is relatively simple, with up to 21-inch alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles and slim cladding on the wheel arches.

At the rear, the GLC Electric gets star-shaped LED tail-lights with circular outlines, connected by a gloss-black trim. While the front Mercedes logo is illuminated, the rear features a solid 3D badge. Internationally, the 400 4Matic is also available in an AMG Line guise, which gets a more aggressive grille and sportier alloy-wheel designs.

Features a massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen on the dashboard

Inside, the GLC Electric features a massive 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, which Mercedes-Benz claims is the largest display it has ever fitted to a car. The setup seamlessly integrates the driver’s display, infotainment touchscreen and passenger display into a single unit. It runs on the fourth-generation MBUX interface and features a built-in AI assistant. Unlike many modern EVs, the GLC Electric also retains physical controls on the steering wheel and centre console. It has a five-seat configuration.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 80 lakh to Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, which is slated to launch in India in 2027.
