The X-Tech Executive Chair Aims to Upend Premium Models from Herman Miller, Steelcase at a Better Price

At first glance, the X-Tech Executive looks like a typical office chair. It’s not gaudy like some of the racing-styled gaming chairs out there. However, this is actually X-Chair’s roomiest chair, with a 22″ seat width and up to 275 pound weight capacity. X-Chair states on its page that the chair is best suited for medium to large-framed people.

The seat is made of a supportive cooling memory foam that contours to your body. The seat and upper back section are upholstered in Brisa performance faux-leather fabric that’s both breathable and easily washable. The lower back is made of a flexible mesh material which X-Chair calls “adaptive thermoregulating (ATR)”.

Ergonomics

In terms of ergonomics, the X-Tech Executive features a dynamic variable lumbar system. The lower back is disconnected from the rest of the chair and adjusts automatically based on your movement. That way, your back is supported no matter what position you might be in. This dynamic lumbar foregoes your need to manually adjust the settings.

If you’re going to spend this much for a chair, then you should definitely pay an extra $50 for the optional X-HMT heat massager. This add-on is seamlessly incorporated into the lower back section for some much welcomed therapy. This upgrade isn’t available in most ergonomic chairs and when it is, it can cost upwards of $300. For just 3% of the cost of the entire chair, I see no reason why anyone would opt out of the upgrade.

Features

• Dynamic Variable Lumbar (DVL®) Support intuitively adjusts to your body every time you move.
• Premium Fabric Duo includes soft-touch vegan leather Brisa, combined with water-resistant A.T.R.
• Premium Seat Foam includes Cooling Gel Memory Foam
• 4-Dimensional armrests come standard (up, down, side-to-side, front-to-back) and with the option to upgrade to FS 360 rotational armrests.
• SciFloat Infinite Recline + Tilt Lock and Tension allows you to recline and lock into position or increase tension in your recline motion for more fluid movement.
• Height Adjustable Backrest independently adjusts allowing you to raise the DVL® to fit the curve of your back. Seat depth and seat height are also adjustable features.

How does it compare to other chair brands?

The X-Tech Executive is clearly targeted towards professionals who are looking at premium options from brands like Herman Miller, Steelcase, and Haworth, among others. The best chairs from these brands, however, are priced even higher. For example, the Herman Miller Embody is listed at $2,000. Compared to these options, the X-Tech Executive is actually a more reasonably priced high-end alternative that promises the same level of both comfort and ergonomics.
