Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 Update Secretly Added The Witcher 3 Sword and Cosmetics

Cyberpunk 2077’s surprise 2.5 update added a new dual-wielding playstyle, fresh ways to customize protagonist V’s look, extra quests and plenty more, but players have discovered that developer CD Projekt Red secretly added a range of new The Witcher 3-themed cosmetics, too.

The Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners update snuck in some sweet new clothes for V to wear, as well as the professor spectacles Geralt can wear in The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3 items added in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 update:

• Boar Carver — a small knife, similar to what Geralt pulls out to take a trophy from beasts.
• Sihil Sword — a cool sword with ancient writing down the shaft and spiky rivets across the edge.
• The Professor’s Spectacles — a mask in The Witcher 3’s Hearts of Stone expansion that once belonged to the Professor. It can be purchased at the auction during the main quest, Open Sesame!
• Ursine Jacket — a jacket based on the Bear School gear in The Witcher 3.
• Ursine Pants — trousers based on the Bear School gear.

As mentioned by @SynthPotato on X / Twitter, you can access the items at V’s apartment once you get a text from Arianne about a gift. It’s a similar method used for other drops added to the game.

None of this was included in the official Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 patch notes, which mostly focused on the Edgerunners crossover and a new questline featuring Night City founder Richard Night. Those new Glamdocs look nice though — I’ve always wanted to pimp my chrome and add some color to those gorilla arms.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime just got its second season. Set after the events of the game, Edgerunners 2 features a cast of fresh characters as they navigate the dystopian hell of Night City’s corporation-ruled future. Game director Hideo Kojima made a cheeky cameo in it.

CDPR has also partnered with Paramount to make a live-action movie based on the game. However, the Cyberpunk 2077 movie won’t retrace the game’s steps. Smile 2 star Kyle Gallner said he would love to play V, though the news that it won’t follow the games could mean V doesn’t even exist in the movie.

CDPR had ruled out Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, so this 2.5 update came as a welcome surprise. Some fans still want a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, though, and are encouraged by The Witcher 3’s upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, which arrives 12 years after the base game launched. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2 is in development, as is The Witcher 4 and a number of other games.
