Spanish bathroom brand Roca has rethought conventional toilet design with Avant, integrating the cistern within the toilet itself.
For the Avant toilet, Roca designed the cistern to sit within the bowl, removing the external cistern on its floor-standing model and the concealed cistern and flush plate on its wall-hung version.
Avant’s cistern uses flushing technology based on the Venturi effect. Here, fluid pressure drops when liquid is funnelled from a larger pipe section to a smaller one.
This creates a powerful suction in the tank, which is needed for the flush. As the components are concealed within the wall, this gives Avant a more minimalist appearance but also offers benefits in space, aesthetics, installation and maintenance.

The integrated aesthetic also makes bathrooms more adaptable and practical for different design needs and interiors.
“The removal of an external cistern or the flush plate further enhances the overall aesthetic of the bathroom, and its neutral, minimalist design blends seamlessly into any bathroom style, adding a touch of modernity,” said Roca.
Another innovative element is that the Avant is also powered without electricity, but if water pressure or flow is insufficient in a building, the Avant-E model is best suited – an electric version suitable for a wider range of plumbing systems.
The Avant also features dual-flush options, side-mounted flush buttons, a soft-close seat and cover and Roca Rimless Vortex. According to Roca, it meets the highest hygiene standards and operates with splash-free, low-consumption flushing, reducing water consumption.

The toilet is also covered in Supraglaze, a custom finish that mitigates the build-up of dirt, germs and residue, making cleaning simple and further increasing hygiene.
The result is an efficient, minimalist toilet ideal for compact spaces, easy to install and maintain.
“Avant not only brings a modern aesthetic to the bathroom, but it also reduces flush noise, providing a quieter, more comfortable experience than conventional toilets,” said Roca.

Founded in Spain in 1917, Roca now operates in 170 countries, with a special focus on sustainability and craftsmanship.
The company produces high-end, design-forward bathroom appliances, including everything from toilets to sinks, hardware and faucets.
It recently released modular bathroom furniture that can be adjusted to fit different scales and colourful taps in collaboration with designer Inma Bermúdez, in bright green, blue and yellow finishes.
