Defender 110 now locally assembled in India

JLR has commenced the local assembly of the Defender 110 in India via the completely knocked down (CKD) route, resulting in a reduction in its ex-showroom price by up to Rs 34 lakh. This applies to the Defender 110’s X-Dynamic HSE trim, sold with 3-litre diesel, 3-litre petrol and 2-litre petrol engine options. Both the locally-assembled 3-litre diesel and petrol models are now priced at Rs 1.18 crore, down from Rs 1.52 crore for the fully imported models. This is a reduction of Rs 34 lakh for both engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol Defender 110 is now priced at Rs 99 lakh, down from Rs 1.13 crore, resulting in a drop of Rs 14 lakh.

In addition to the Defender, select versions of the Range Rover, Sport, Velar, Evoque and Discovery Sport are locally assembled in the country. The Defender, previously sold as a fully imported model, was JLR India’s best-selling model in FY2026. In fact, the Defender, Range Rover and Sport together accounted for more than 80 percent of the company’s sales here during the last fiscal year.
