THORChain Mistakenly Refunds 10 ETH, Disrupting Binance Hackers’ Transfers

THORChain suspended cryptocurrency swaps across 10 blockchain networks after an Ethereum transaction error resulted in an additional 10 ETH payout. The issue followed a one-block reorganisation on October 31, which caused a deposit to disappear from Ethereum’s transaction history after THORChain had already processed it. The protocol’s automated balance checks detected the discrepancy and triggered an emergency halt. Chainalysis said the disruption also delayed transfers connected to the October 29 Binance hack.
