Turkish GTA 6 fans want language support so badly that they went out of their way to professionally dub its gameplay reveal.
The Turkish gaming community has been asking for more and more studios to add Turkish language support for their games. This has led to massive fan campaigns for titles like 007 First Light, which actually resulted in IO Interactive adding Turkish subtitles to the game. Now, the Turkish gaming community is turning their focus to the most anticipated release of the year, if not the most anticipated game in history: Grand Theft Auto 6.
Fans have been asking Rockstar Games to add Turkish subtitles or voice overs to GTA 6 ahead of its release in November. They aren’t just making social media posts tagging Rockstar, either; they actually professionally dubbed and mixed the entire GTA 6 extended look with a whole cast of actors. The Turkish dub went up just a day after the gameplay was released, which means there was a very fast turn around. It’s pretty impressive and shows, there are members of the community actively trying to make this a reality.
YouTuber Pintipanda also made a video asking Rockstar to see the potential in localizing GTA 6 for Turkish players. In it, he points out how Turkish-speaking individuals exist in a number of countries outside of Turkey itself, and that GTA 6 is bound to have a wide reach, so it should be as inclusive as possible.
“I know that you guys do these things internally, but if creating a team from zero is hard or you don’t have the time or the luxury, you have the money, of course. There is an alternative way to do this. We have world-class Turkish localization teams here. We are playing The Witcher 3 in Turkish, Cyberpunk 2077 in Turkish, Baldur’s Gate in Turkish, and Warhammer games in Turkish. As you guessed, these are text-heavy games that we are playing and enjoy in our native country.
“The studios behind these games like CD Projekt Red or Techland, all the studios are getting their investment back with the sales. That’s a win-win, that’s an alternative way to do these kinds of things. The choice is yours.”
The creator went on to say he’s aware that localizing GTA 6 won’t happen overnight, but the community simply wants to be acknowledged by Rockstar as a “starting point.” Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but it’s clear there is a passionate group of players trying to get the best experience for themselves.
GTA 6 is a little more than two months away now, and Rockstar has its foot on the gas when it comes to marketing. Following the gameplay reveal last week, a bunch of previews of GTA 6 were released from select content creators and IGN itself. This has resulted in no shortage of news and details about the highly-anticipated game. Earlier today, Rockstar and PlayStation also revealed two limited-edition GTA 6-themed PS5 controllers, which will go up for pre-order next week.
