Are you curious about all the endings in The Blood of Dawnwalker? Your journey across the fields, bogs, and castles of Vale Sangora has to come to a close some time, whether you manage to do it in 30 days or not. Our guide has all the information that you could ever want but, due to the topic that we’ll discuss, do expect several major spoilers.

The Blood of Dawnwalker endings, epilogues, and extras

There are multiple endings in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and all of them can be obtained in a single playthrough, especially if you keep backup saves. We’re going to start off with those that can be achieved before even reaching Castle Greifberg, the citadel of the vampire lord Brencis. Then, we look into how the campaign concludes for Coen, whether he has allies or not. Finally, we talk about the epilogue scenes woven akin to a medieval tapestry.

Secret ending: The Hero They Deserve

You can get this ending by leaving Vale Sangora via the aptly named Coward’s Path. You won’t rescue your family. You won’t bother with Brencis. You’ll just try to start a new life. We’re reminded of other secret/joke endings where the protagonist just avoids all conflict, such as those from Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 6.

Thanks for nuthin’.

Secret ending: Together Forever

This secret ending in The Blood of Dawnwalker can be unlocked as part of the Home Sweet Home quest. Normally, you should figure out that you’re stuck in a time loop so you can make your escape. But, if Coen keeps pushing onward without facing his guilt, he’ll be trapped in a dreamlike fugue state forever.

The family that preys together, stays together.

Bad ending: Your Family Is Sacrificed

This is more like a quick cutscene, albeit one that alters parts of the story. If you ignore the time progression system and the 30-day time limit elapses, Brencis will sacrifice Coen’s entire family. The cutscene will flash in Coen’s mind, as though he feels the exact moment when his family is murdered.

Waiting for a dawn that will never come.

Good ending: In the Nick of Time

Conversely, if you can defeat Brencis within the 30-day time limit, you’ll receive this achievement instead. You’ll see Coen stopping Brencis’ ritual, freeing his family members. Unfortunately, as he’ll find out soon enough, it looks like Brencis has already turned Lunka into a vampire.

They’re all saved! Well, most of them, at least.

Good ending: The Folk Hero

The next set of endings in The Blood of Dawnwalker are more dependent on how you assault Brencis’ castle. To get “The Folk Hero” trophy, you need to defeat Brencis on your own. There are a couple of ways to do this:

Sneak inside the castle (left) and fight bosses on your own (right).

Good endings: The Patricide and The Knyazmaker

The Blood of Dawnwalker endings here correspond to those where you obtain the help of allies once you’ve completed their entire quest chain. Instead of entering Castle Greifberg via the walls or the side passage, you talk to other NPCs so you can start their respective final mission. They’ll partake in combat encounters and help you slay Brencis once and for all.

  • Lacra – Has the Midnight Reckoning final quest, which nets you “The Patricide” trophy.
  • Crake – Has the Fall Before Dusk final quest, which nets you “The Knyazmaker” trophy.
Find a friend for the final fight.

Douchebag ending: The Turncoat – Finale

Speaking of allies, you can betray them, too, to get a different trophy called “The Turncoat.” One method that lets you get this achievement happens during your final confrontation with Brencis.

  • Let’s say you’ve already progressed Lacra’s and/or Crake’s quest chains until you know of their hideouts–i.e. Lacra in Westridge Outpost and Crake in the Manumit Weaver House.
  • Then, for the finale, go ahead and infiltrate Castle Greifberg on your own. Once you confront Brencis, respond with the following:
    • “I just want my family back.”
    • “Fine–I’ll bow before you.”
    • “Will you let them go then?”
  • The next conversation should show an option where you betray an ally by telling Brencis where their hideout is located.

Note: Alternatively, assuming you’ve already completed your ally’s quest chain, you can just do the final mission with their assistance. Once Coen reaches Brencis’ lair with Lacra/Crake, you can betray that companion in exchange for your family’s freedom.

And then subsequently betray that friend.

Douchebag ending: The Turncoat – Deal with the Devil

Another opportunity to betray erstwhile allies presents itself once you’ve maxed out your Infamy level. You’ll receive a document saying that Brencis has invited you to a parlay, leading to a quest called Deal with the Devil.

At the parlay, Brencis will bring Coen’s father, Pieter, as proof of life. Next, tell Brencis that you want your family back. In exchange, he’ll ask you to betray Crake and the Manumits by marking their hideout with blood. Go back to Svartrau City, mark the door of the hideout, and watch the chaos that unfolds. Brencis, upon killing Crake, will nod at Coen for his compliance.

Brencis is happy knowing that Coen is quite obedient.

Douche-bad ending: A Bad Time for a Duel

Since we’re already talking about betrayal endings in The Blood of Dawnwalker, then you might be surprised that there’s another that occurs during the aforementioned Deal with the Devil quest. Instead of agreeing to a deal with Brencis, just pick the option where you fight him.

Defeat Brencis in combat and enjoy the fruits of your victo… oh, no, bad idea. Because you fought Brencis out in the open and during a parlay, no less, it seems that his own soldiers caught wind of your actions. Coen checks in on his father, who’s already been killed. And you’re too far away from Castle Greifberg to save your other family members. Later, during the epilogue, you realize that the rest of your loved ones have also been murdered.

Killing the lord of a region during a parlay, all while your family is still being held hostage? Coen has neither watched Game of Thrones nor played Crusader Kings.

Epilogue 1: Things Will Be Different Now

Regardless of how you dealt with Brencis, you’ll find yourself back at Laslea Glen. This epilogue quest called Things Will Be Different Now, has Coen doing mundane chores once more just to help the villagers prepare for the coming winter. After a few activities, Coen will enter a cave where he’s keeping Lunka hidden.

He doesn’t know if there’s a cure for his vampire sister, but other characters are willing to help:

  • Lacra, if you didn’t betray her, will make an appearance.
  • Vicho will also show up if you kept him alive/kept giving him blood.
  • A mysterious character named Neberu introduces himself as one of the Arbiters. He then says that the Augurs have an offer for Coen.
  • Coen leaves the valley with vampire Lunka covered up in a cart.
Allies, new and old.

Epilogue 2: Character Fates

You’ll then be treated to more endings in The Blood of the Dawnwalker. These pertain to the fates of characters and certain locations:

  • Coen’s family – Whether you saved them or not.
  • Svartrau Castle – How a hero stormed the castle alone or with some help.
  • Anca – Even though you romanced Anca, she still left on a journey. There’s also a tidbit about her undoing her past, which is related to the Font of Life.
  • Lacra – Even though you romanced Lacra, she’s still causing chaos wherever she goes.
  • Father Florin – Whether you helped him or killed him as part of his personal quest. If it’s the former, then you’ll learn that the Catholic Church eventually canonized him as a saint.
  • Vicho – If you prevented his suicide, then you’ll be glad to know that he’s still helping people.
  • Ocha – Her fate depends on whether she returned to her village or stayed in the city.

From left to right: Medieval frescoes show what happened to characters like Anca, Lacra, and Father Flo… wait a minute… Saint Florin?

Post-credits scene: Present-day

Last but not least, there’s a post-credits scene showing a badly wounded Coen sitting alone in an apartment. After getting a blood bag delivered, he sees a shadowy figure floating outside the window. It looks like parts of the exterior have red tendrils growing on them, denoting that the corruption from Anachora has seeped through. Looks like we’re getting a sequel!

The present-day sequel better have more than 30 days due to the heavy traffic.

Bonus ending: What happens if you beat Brencis during the prologue?

It’s extremely difficult to defeat Brencis during The Blood of Dawnwalker’s prologue. His attacks deal tremendous damage and that’s just with him in his humanoid form. For the second phase, he’ll transition into his grotesque form, and his abilities will likely kill Coen in a single hit.

That said, if you can survive the onslaught–as seen in this video from YouTuber GamersPrey, you’ll still get the Things Will Be Different Now epilogue. There are, however, some notable caveats:

  • Since Coen was just recently turned, he has no clue about living as a vampire, inviting remnants of vrakhiri souls, or the realm of Anachora.
  • It seems that Brencis still managed to turn Lunka into a vampire before his demise.
  • Neberu will still show up in the cave. You won’t see allies like Lacra and Vicho since you’ve never met them.
  • Anca will get a happy ending as she’ll be accepted by the villagers.
  • Father Florin will meet a cruel fate after his flock turns on him. There’s no redemption for him, as you never had a chance to help him with his schemes.
Do you have a shot against this guy?

That does it for our The Blood of Dawnwalker endings guide. Regardless of how you approached the entire campaign, we do hope your journey comes to a fruitful conclusion. Oh, and if you’re still roaming around, you might want to double-check if you already have all the legendary items in the game.
