Spider-Noir Canceled at Prime Video After One Season

Amazon’s Prime Video has canceled Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir after just one season.

It’s an early demise for Cage’s live-action take on the wall-crawling hero, as reported by Deadline. The decision arrived just four months after all eight episodes of Spider-Noir Season 1 premiered with a binge release in May 2026.

Spider-Noir was the second Marvel series ordered by Prime Video, and although Cage’s time as the detective hero has come to an end, Marvel apparently isn’t down for the count quite yet. It’s reported that more superhero projects could arrive through the streamer as part of a multi-title deal between Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television. Both entities are reportedly working on multiple projects, and although one of them is said to be nearing a series order, details have yet to be announced.

If you watched Spider-Noir, there’s a good chance you’re sad to see it won’t come back for Season 2. Critics and fans alike generally adored the crime drama superhero spin, with Rotten Tomatoes recording 92% favorability for the latter and 90% for the former. IGN liked Season 1, too, awarding it an 8/10 review.

“Nicolas Cage’s Bogie-meets-Bugs Bunny pulp hero invigorates the highly entertaining, genre-bending Spider-Noir,” we said at the time of its Prime Video premiere.

Spider-Noir follows Cage’s Ben Reilly, a private investigator with spider-like powers who helps his friends and clients alike in 1930s New York City. In addition to its web-swinging star, it also featured Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, and Karen Rodriguez as Janet Ruiz. Other classic Marvel characters, such as Sandman (Jack Huston) and Tombstone (Abraham Popoola), also played a role in the series.

Fans found more than a mystery plot and characters to love. Spider-Noir also featured a novel concept that saw the show available to watch entirely in black-and-white or in color, giving viewers not only a slightly more personalized experience but even a reason to rewatch scenes, too. Unfortunately, it seems to have done little to convince audiences to give the show the support it needed to carry on.

As reported by Deadline, Nielsen recorded 2.6 billion viewing minutes in the first six weeks following its premiere. It was a strong enough start that petered out after it quickly fell from Prime Video’s top 10 charts.

What lies in store for Amazon, Sony, and Prime Video’s Marvel plans remains unclear. Another Spider-Man-style project called Silk: Spider Society was once said to be in the works, but was eventually canceled.
