Activision Keeps Saying All The Right Things About Modern Warfare 4

Activision has made a key announcement about how Double XP tokens work in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and it sounds like good news.

Beginning with MW4, 2XP tokens will only count down when you’re actually in a match. Previously, the timer would tick down when you were in a game’s menus or searching for a match. That’s not ideal for a lot of reasons, obviously.

If you’re anything like me, sometimes you have to get up to let your dog out. Or you want to get up to grab some food or a drink. Or, you might sit in the game’s menus when nature calls. Now, you can do those things and still get the full amount of 2XP without your bonus going to waste.

Beyond this, several key developers at Infinity Ward discussed a range of hot topics about MW4 in a newly published “The Road to Launch” video. Check it out below to hear what the team had to say about time-to-kill values, spawning algorithms, and UI issues following the game’s multiple rounds of beta testing.

This is just the latest positive-sounding update for MW4, following the previous confirmation that players will be able to toggle off skins they don’t want to see in Warzone–though the toggle is not supported for MW4 itself yet.

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The game marks the first Call of Duty release on a Nintendo platform since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts. It’s also the first game since Ghosts to skip PS4 and Xbox One.
