Durai, Director of the Regional Meteorological Centre (South Zone), announced that the Northeast Monsoon has commenced in Tamil Nadu. He stated that the monsoon rainfall this year is expected to be within the normal range. Furthermore, he noted that rainfall in the northern districts is likely to be below normal, while the southern districts may receive above-normal rainfall.
