Chris Pratt Reaffirms Star-Lord Will Return in the MCU and Plans Are Being Made Right Now

Chris Pratt has confirmed that Star-Lord’s return to the MCU is actively being figured out.

The beloved galactic hero has been absent from the MCU since 2023, but his last appearance ended with a promise during the credits: Star-Lord will return. When speaking with The Playlist, Chris Pratt was asked about Star-Lord’s future. Pratt confirmed that Marvel has been having conversations about bringing back the character, but he’s remaining tight-lipped on when that will happen.

“I have a great relationship with Kevin [Feige] and Lou [D’Esposito], and there have been both ongoing conversations about how we make good on that promise and also hard action taken to make sure that we make good on that promise,” he explained. “So yeah, you’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be, but he’s not going anywhere.”

Of course, Avengers: Doomsday is right around the corner and has a stacked cast… but Pratt is not among the list of confirmed stars. There are some actors who are heavily rumored to appear, but haven’t been officially announced. However, Pratt hasn’t really been part of the rumor mill. It’s possible that he will be in the film’s sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, but we will likely have to wait until next year to know for sure.

Director James Gunn has been open about having no plans to do another Guardians of the Galaxy film, especially since he is now heading up DC Studios. Still, many of the characters he adapted for the big screen still live on in the MCU. Perhaps Star-Lord will get his own TV series. Maybe a solo film… or maybe he will return with a new crew in a potential Guardians of the Galaxy 4, helmed by another director. There are a ton of possibilities, but you can rest assured knowing Star-Lord is coming back.
