This week on Dezeen Japanese designer Kengo Kuma’s Kai Water Culture House, which features pyramidal towers, was revealed nearing completion in Copenhagen.
The 5,800-square-metre aquatic centre on the city’s harbour will contain 10 indoor and outdoor pools and is opening next month. Kuma designed the project alongside Danish firms Cornelius Vöge, Søren Jensen and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.

In Sydney, museum Powerhouse Parramatta opens today. Designed by architecture studios Moreau Kusunoki and Genton, it is described as the largest cultural project in Australia since the Sydney Opera House.
Powerhouse Parramatta is located on the banks of the Parramatta River in western Sydney and wrapped by a steel-lattice exoskeleton.

Annual design week Designart Tokyo is currently taking place in venues across the Japanese capital. Among six standout projects featured by Dezeen from this year’s event, was an exhibition that explores people’s perspectives on forests and a lamp that unfolds like an accordion.
Also on show in the city was the emerging design exhibition Alter, which featured work including an AI-powered tea ceremony and washi paper furniture.

Also this week, automotive brand Fiat launched its Multiplay concept car, which can transform from an SUV into a pickup, with movable seats and an interior designed to be flexible.
Cars were also on the agenda in London, where British car brand Jaguar redesigned its flagship store in Knightsbridge. It is the only place in the world where people can see the recently unveiled Type 01 electric car.

French studio Lacaton & Vassal Architectes, which is led by architects Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal, was named the recipient of the Le Prix Charlotte Perriand 2027.
The studio is known for its social housing designs and was recognised by the Créateurs Design Association & Awards for contributing to contemporary architecture through its work in transforming and improving existing buildings.

Popular projects on Dezeen this week include an arched London apartment building by Alison Brooks, a former workshop converted into a Japanese home and a “quiet yet present” garden studio.
Our podcast this week looked at architects’ salaries in the UK and discussed why architects don’t get paid much.
