Reddit is testing advertisements within search results, with the initial trial involving a select group of eligible advertisers. The ads will be matched to search queries, so users looking for products could see related promotions alongside results. The platform will study user responses before deciding how to develop the placements further. Separately, Reddit is preparing to require users to sign in to access most of its content. The company says the change will also help address unauthorised data scraping.
